SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

 

Imtiaj Rasul is a participatory development specialist. Since 1996, he is actively involved in research, advocacy, and intervention programs related to public health, poverty, human development, water & sanitation, environment, migration, rural & urban housing, education, marginalized community, social policy and development strategy. During his career he worked with Grameen Trust (sister concern of Grameen Bank), Winona State University (USA), Whitman College (USA), The University of Exeter, Exeter (UK),Research Initiatives, Bangladesh (RIB), MRC Mode Ltd., BRAC Development Institute (BDI), BRAC University, American Alumni Association (AAA) and  PROGGA. Mr. Imtiaj has extensive experience in designing training programs for advocacy and campaign for specific professionals ie journalists, public health experts then continuously follow up with them to ensure their dissemination to various stakeholders. He also enjoys networking with knowledge institutions in South Asia and delivering lectures at reputed universities in USA, UK, India and Bangladesh.

Responsibilities

 

·         Providing overall guidance, technical and management supports to the PROGGA team discrediting tobacco industry (TI) for assisting and advocating the implementation of tobacco control law of the country.

 

·          Maintaining a close relation with journalists working across the country for monitoring, tracking, exposing the Tobacco Industries ill tactics in Bangladesh.

 

  • Developing implementation strategies to be used for discrediting TI initiatives in promoting tobacco production/use (tobacco cultivation, TAPS, and tobacco taxation etc ) in Bangladesh;

 

  • Maintaining close liaisons with donor, government bodies, anti-tobacco alliances and coalitions, tobacco control organizations, National Tobacco Control Cell (NTCC) and the relevant civil society organizations and members.

 

  • Updating and modifying implementation strategies for discrediting tobacco industries in a regular basis/as and when require;

 

  • Contributing to develop content of the web portal, e-news letter and associated social media outlets for sharing the findings of investigative journalism, research and stories of the farmers.

 

  • Providing overall supports to the staff members in carrying out regular research on TI, conducting regular networking among stakeholders and discrediting TI using Social Media.

·         Establishing strategic relationships/links with relevant government officials/offices to get information about TI activities.

Membership Development Manager, American Alumni Association (AAA)

Responsibilities

  

  • Takes care of overall responsibility for membership development and tries to maintain a close relation with the AAA members. Gives highest effort to recruit new members of the association.

 

·         Update current and upcoming activities to the president. Arrange any meetings where president needs to attend on behalf of AAA. Inform president of any issues which is in urgent need to be placed in EC meeting.

 

·         Plan, coordinates and executes AAA activities in consultation with secretary and President.  The activities are usually participated by AAA members. These activities vary from Seminar, Talk, Small presentations, Iftar party, Annual picnic, Awards Nights etc.

 

·         Make a list of priority of activities which needs to be covered in a year then assist Secretary and President to put up as agenda in the regular EC meetings.

 

·         Inform the Secretary and the President for specific rules need to be followed during the year such as holding EC meeting, Annual General Meeting, assisting for holding AAA bi- annual election, Yearly financial Audit.

 

·         Draft all minutes of the EC meetings, and AGM and then submits to Secretary for finalizing the reports.

 

·         Work with the staff members of AAA as a team in organizing different activities of AAA. During regular office days there are lot of activities takes place in the office like visitor comes for taking exams and also to know information about different exams. They also want to know about membership and other activities of AAA.

 

·         Guide AAA staffs to maintain and do all necessary work of the office files and other documents.  Also supervise and implement policies, regulations of AAA which are guided and instructed by EC.

 

  • Serves as the coordinator in the Special Committees or Sub Committees when there are specific activities or events take place.  Makes sure of  the implementations of the administrative actions related to each of the sub committees or Special Committees.

 

  • Monitor activities of the Learning center. Takes key responsibility to monitor the student enrollment and also to promote the courses offered by the learning center. Persuade students to enroll in the course AAA learning center offers.  Monitors the performance of the course teachers and also check out how the students are performing in the courses

 

  • Monitor Test Center activities and also follow up with the Test Center Manager.  Collects the statistics of how many students are giving exams in which subjects. Ensure all type of administrative & logistics support to the test center.

 

 

 

  • Takes initiative to promote AAA and look for new avenues for income generations. Search for sponsorship (with the assistance and guidance of EC members) when AAA is organizing some events. Also look for opportunities which could be with the test center and the learning center by adding new services in paper based exams and also introducing new courses.

 

  • Monitor and supervise financial activities of the association. Seeks advices, suggestions and approval of the treasurer in all financial activities which requires any expenses.

 

  • Keeps regular liaison and communication with the American Center. Keep contacts with the relevant officers of the Center; also keep the EC updated on any issue where the EC needs to be notified. Also organize joint programs with the American Center.

 

  • Keeps regular liaison communication with the American Chamber of Commerce. Keep contacts with the relevant officers of the Chamber; also keep the EC updated on any issue where the EC needs to be notified. Also inform the EC in programs where they are invited.

 

  • Takes special responsibilities when the EC decides to implement some job urgently. These jobs may vary from contacting high official from the government, foreign embassies to coordinating printing brochure, magazine etc.
